Adolescents face many contradictions in their lives, but there is one that is far greater and more obvious than all of the others. Teenagers in high school are expected to raise their hand and ask to go to the bathroom, and then a few months later are expected to pay their own bills and take care of themselves while in university. The main part of high school is to prepare students for university, and one of the main components of university is learning to take care of yourself. Due to this relationship, it seems obvious that high school students should be taught how to pay bills and how to take care of themselves, but instead, they are taught to raise their hand to ask for permission to use the bathroom.
